Shortening the values on the dashboard from $XXX,XXX.XX to XX.XXk or XX.XXm looks less professional and obscures data

First off, how much free time do the devs have that THIS was a change that needed to be made? And who on earth actually benefits from it?

Does it free up bandwidth or something?

Regardless, it’s the loss of additional information in favor of…extra blank purple space between a row’s title and the $ number. What am I missing here - why take something and make it look worse?

The choice to use k and m notations for large amounts has to do with improving legibility. This was not directly an issue on the Dashboard overview, but it was on more info-packed segments and on pages like the Earn page: GMX | Decentralized Perpetual Exchange

Here, using long-form figures made the table of GM pools very dense and hard to navigate. This new version with more space is easier on the eyes and cleaner. And for consistency, k and m notations were introduced across the entire dapp.

Though I personally don’t agree, I appreciate the feedback either way.

I do dev on the side and making that sort of modification makes no difference to “how much free time” devs have, sometimes devs also need a break from the hardcore stuff and in my experience doing these sorts of tasks is sometimes good to just decompress, I’d cut them some slack!
