GMX Listing committee nominations

Hey everyone, I am excited to share that we are now accepting Nominations for the GMX Listing Committee. The initial post provides more information about the role. Interested candidates can submit their nominations below this post, following the provided template.

Compensation:

Members of the Listing committee will receive an honorarium for their roles. The proposed honorarium is $1000 per month. Nominees from Labs are waiving receipt of this honorarium as they are already indirectly compensated and aligned with the GMX DAO through contributor agreements.

The nomination period will be open for approximately 3 weeks, starting on August 15th and closing around September 5. Following this, we will have a one-week Snapshot vote period to determine the composition of the Listing Committee.

Long time GMX supporter and User.

Familiarity with Perp listings: How well do you know the listing process of perps in general?

I am understanding the importance of chain link oracles and Chaos Labs risk assessment. I am willing to learn the nuances in order to help expedite and create an effective process allowing GMX to add tradable assets to the platform. My goal is to be an expert in this process to change the turnaround times based on the communities voice.

Relevant Experience:

I have been actively involved in the cryptocurrency and DeFi space since 2016, focusing on trading, investing, and understanding the dynamics of decentralized markets. My experience with Solidity includes creating common smart contracts and understanding the fundamentals of more complex ones. While I am confident in my current understanding, I am also committed to continuously expanding my knowledge to stay aligned with GMX’s evolving features and the broader DeFi landscape. This technical background, combined with my extensive market experience, enables me to effectively assess the security and viability of new assets for listing on GMX.

Familiarity with Perp listings:

I have a solid grasp of the perpetual listing process and the importance of key criteria such as market capitalization, trading volume, liquidity, and oracle integration, all of which are crucial for maintaining the integrity and competitiveness of the GMX platform. I am particularly attuned to how GMX V2’s features, including isolated markets and advanced liquidity pools, enhance the platform’s capabilities and how these can be leveraged in the asset evaluation process.

Suggestions for the GMX Listing Committee:

To maximize the impact of the GMX Listing Committee, I recommend focusing on strategic asset prioritization, ensuring that new listings not only meet technical criteria but also align with emerging market demand. Incorporating more direct community feedback, such as regular surveys, can further refine the selection process, keeping it aligned with user interests.

Additionally, implementing a post-listing review will help the Committee continuously improve by analyzing the performance of listed assets and adjusting strategies accordingly, ensuring that GMX remains at the forefront of decentralized trading.

Time Commitment:

I am committed to dedicating more than 10 hours per week to the GMX Listing Committee, with a focus on ensuring that the listing process remains efficient, transparent, and aligned with GMX’s strategic objectives.

I have been involved in crypto since early 2017 and started my journey with BitMEX. BitMEX is the platform that pretty much introduced perpetuals to the space. Besides BitMEX I have used most other well-known platforms too. During all market phases, I have followed and studied the listing strategies of these different businesses. Judging by that experience I believe I know what is important when listing assets. I believe I know what the end users are interested in. Due to the time I put into building connections on CT I am on top of crypto in general, which gives me an edge in knowing what narratives are (or potentially might become) relevant.

  • Suggestions for the GMX Listing Committee: Do you have any ideas or suggestions for how the GMX Listing Committee can maximise its impact?

Because of the information I mentioned above I have multiple ideas and strategies in mind.
For starters it will be important for GMX to become more efficient in listing assets from relevant narratives.

Absolutely, 10 hours and more.

Can you read and write code: Yes. I have personally worked with the GMX codebase in the past.

I am a software engineer by profession. I’ve been in the crypto space since 2017. I began doing smart contract (solidity) programming in the same year with a focus on Ethereum. I published several dapps in the process. I got involved with GMX in around 2021. I developed a react-native dashboard (python backend) for GMX users that allows them to track their rewards and yields from staking GMX and GLP. This dashboard was well received and led me to develop many more software platforms for GMX. For example I developed GMX Referrals as a dashboard for GMX affiliates to track rewards and see leaderboards. I also worked with the GMX NFT project blueberry club to develop a esGMX tracker for holders of those NFT. I also have published several technical documents in regard to GMX on my twitter account. I’ve been a firm believer of the project since its early days.

I am familiar with the general process and have been following GMXs current strategy in this regard closely. Id obviously need to do a deep dive if and once elected.

Suggestions for the GMX Listing Committee: Do you have any ideas or suggestions for how the GMX Listing Committee can maximise its impact?

Sure. Off the top of my head I think the selection process of perps is probably the most important initiating aspect. I assume both market sentiment and community input is vital in this regard. Once a perp is launched, GMX must constantly monitor liquidity in the spot market to make sure spillage is under control. This is particularly important for perps because the high leverage offered to GMX traders can increase the volatility of the perps market. I’m personally a big fan of documentation (as X can attest too hehe). So I think GMX should be doing a more comprehensive pre-launch education for it’s traders. Perps can be complicated even for the most experienced trader. From a security point of view I approach the problem from a software engineering stance. We obviously want to be doing extensive code reviews including checking for vulnerabilities such as reentrancy attacks and unauthorized access. Fortunately GMX already has a great system in place for this. I would say that my familiarity with the GMX codebase gives me a vantage point in this regard.

Allowing upper-layer protocols to build arbitrage strategies at the infrastructure level is the only consideration, as this is the most effective way to maintain a OI balance and minimize risks for GM LPs. This means we may evaluate which markets are feasible based on the top three CEXs—Binance, Bybit, and OKX. In other words, we can deploy corresponding markets supported by all three of these CEXs without bias.

I’m the co-founder of Tradao, which supported GMX since May 2023. We provide many different functions to GMX users, including data tracking(OI, Trading Volume, Liquidation), trader portfolio and analysis, permissionless copy trading, etc. As Tradao not only integrated with GMX, we also integrated with SNX, and more perp dex’s data is coming. Those data could also help to make the listing decisions based on the performance of other perp dex.

Familiarity with Perp listings: How well do you know the listing process of perps in general?

I don’t know the exact process of the perp listing process, but I can learn from my friends who work for the CEX or other perp dex.

Suggestions for the GMX Listing Committee: Do you have any ideas or suggestions for how the GMX Listing Committee can maximise its impact?

I think the listing committee could help GMX build connections with potential listing projects. The committee could then share news or announcements in those projects’ groups or channels to attract new users to trade on GMX. Also, the committee could coordinate the co-marketing with the listing project to amplify the listing news.
