GMX Governance Committee Season 4

Formation & Structure:

The GMX Governance Committee is a five-member committee elected by the DAO to represent GMX DAO on the Arbitrum governance forum. The GMX Governance committee begin it’s third iteration in November 2025, which will end around April 30th

Jonezee – Events & Marketing

Saurabh – Incentives & Grants

Atomist – DAO Operations

Shogun – Technical

Jrogon – Treasury Management & Gaming

Each member was allocated specific domains based on their expertise to ensure efficient governance and oversight.

The term length for members of the committee was originally set at 6 months. Elections for the Governance Committee were planned to be held twice a year, with all five positions directly voted on by the DAO.

The committee is currently approaching the end of this third 6-month term. The Governance Committee is, therefore, inviting community members to nominate themselves as potential new candidates. If no new members are successfully elected by the DAO, the current Governance Committee members have indicated a willingness to continue their work for another term.

Nominations will be open from March 4th, 2026, to March 11th, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

Actively participating in governance discussions and voting on proposals by the Arbitrum DAO and other DAOs in which GMX has a voice and interest.

Representing the interests and perspectives of the GMX community in governance deliberations.

Collaborating with other members of Arbitrum governance to promote the interests of the broader DeFi ecosystem.

Compensation & Participation:

Members of the Governance Committee receive an honorarium of $1,000 per month for their roles. Nominees from GMX Labs waived their honorarium as they were already indirectly compensated through contributor agreements.

Work completed in the past 6 months:

In the course of its activities over the last half year, the five elected committee members reviewed, discussed, commented on, and (where applicable) voted on more than a 10+ proposals presented to the Arbitrum DAO. To name a few important proposals:

a) AIP: Raise the gas target, min L2 base fee, & implement improvements to the pricing algorithm

b) AGV - 2026 Council Elections

c) DVP Quorum for ArbitrumDAO: Implementation & Parameters

GMX qualified for delegate incentives for the months of November, December, and results for January are yet to be announced earning a total of $2979 through the program.

Rationale for Reducing Committee Size

In light of recent structural and governance changes within the Arbitrum DAO, as well as the evolving scope and volume of governance activity, the current five-member structure is no longer operationally necessary.

Over the previous term, governance participation has become more streamlined and concentrated around high-impact proposals rather than high-volume engagement. The workload and coordination requirements have shifted accordingly. Maintaining a five-member committee under the current governance landscape introduces redundancy in domain coverage, increases coordination overhead, and slows decision-making velocity.

To enhance agility, accountability, and strategic coherence, it is proposed that the GMX Governance Committee be reduced from five (5) members to three (3) members for the upcoming term.

Role Consolidation

Under a three-member structure, responsibilities would be consolidated into broader strategic domains such as:

  • DAO Operations & Events Marketing

  • Treasury & Incentives Oversight

  • Technical

An extension of the Governance Committee’s term by another six months, until October, is proposed.

Please note that the three continuing members carrying forward into the reduced structure are Saurabh, Shogun, and Atomist.

Community members are invited to nominate themselves as candidates for the GMX Governance Committee.

Any delegate may also challenge an individual committee member or the entire committee. In the absence of objections, and if no new candidates are successfully elected, the current committee will continue with a three-member structure for the upcoming term.

Conclusion

With the committee’s 6-month term nearing its end, the GMX DAO will begin the process of electing the next Governance Committee. All members have expressed a willingness to continue if re-elected, ensuring continuity in the absence of new successful candidates.

Nomination Template

The nomination period will be open for approximately one week, starting on March 4th and closing around March 11th. Following this, we will have a one-week Snapshot vote period to determine the composition of the Committee.

As one of the contributors sitting on the Governance Committee over the last seasons, I’m happy to answer any questions about the role.

If you’re interested in being a candidate, feel free to reply here or DM me.

Hi everyone,

Really enjoyed supporting and diligently advocating for GMX within Arbitrum’s governance, alongside my other members. Having been apart of the Governance Committee for the prior season, my purview centered around technical changes, not limited to modifications to the gas target impacting GMX traders, removal of cost caps to promote economic viability of Arbitrum, adoption of ArbOS Callisto pertaining to security and account abstraction changes for Arbitrum.

The experience, also offered a plethora of perspectives within the committee with driving the best outcome for GMX’s objectives and support the Arbitrum ecosystem.

I remain committed to ensuring and upholding discussions within the GMX Governance Committee.

Happy to add some colour to my contribution over the past term in the DAO Operations domain.

The DVP quorum proposal was the standout piece of work this term. Castle Labs had done prior research on delegated voting power dynamics, which gave me solid grounding when the committee engaged with it through several discussions and through to vote. On the AGV council elections, due to my familiarity with the organisation (Castle Labs is their DAO Relations I could provide useful context to the committee throughout the process whilst removing myself from voting due to COI.

More broadly, DAO Operations touches a wide range of proposal types: strategic direction (SOS), service provider continuity (Entropy Advisors Y2-Y3), foundation-level alignment (AF Vision), and operational appointments (OAT). These are the areas I’ve consistently engaged with and where I’ve tried to ensure GMX’s interests are well-represented within Arbitrum governance.

Under the reduced three-member structure, I would be absorbing the Events & Marketing domain alongside DAO Operations. This is a natural fit for me, as I lead a research media firm myself. Castle Labs has co-hosted Arbitrum Day at EthMilan and served as a media partner for EthMilan itself, and I’ve attended and participated in crypto conferences in various capacities, including as a speaker and panellist. Representing GMX at the ecosystem level, both in governance and in person, is something I’m well-positioned to continue.
